KG Hospital on Saturday (August 18, 2018) sent a medical team along with relief materials to the flood-hit neighbouring State of Kerala.
The team comprising doctors, nurses and support staff left for Mannarkad in Kerala by road on Saturday afternoon. Besides medicines, the team is also carrying food items, clothes and other essentials to be given to the people reeling under flood havoc.
According to KG Hospital Chairman Dr G.Bakthavathsalam, the medical aid is organized in coordination with the District Collectors of Coimbatore and Palakkad. The KG Hospital medical team would camp at Mannarkad to extend medical care to the needy people.
Dr Bakthavathsalam says that he is offering this service as his “shramdaan” to alleviate the sufferings of the brethrens in Kerala.
KG Hospital has always been in the forefront to reach out to the people affected by natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, and man-made disasters like bomb blasts, fire tragedy (as in Kumbakonam school) and Kargil War.
On August 17, 2018, Dr Bakthavathsalam along with a large gathering of doctors, nurses and managers offered prayers in KG Hospital Auditorium as follows:
“Oh! All powerful Almighty! Save the people of Kerala people from being devastated by torrential rains and swirling flood waters. Whenever there was rain deficit we used to pray to God to give ample rain. But this time around, we pray to God to stop rain and bring relief to the people of Kerala.”
“Oh! Almighty! You make the Earth revolve; you create drought and you create rain and floods. Since unprecedented rain is wreaking havoc in Kerala, we pray to you to stop the ravaging rain. Move the rain-bearing clouds to Indian Ocean and come to the rescue of the people of Kerala,” Dr Bakthavathsalam so prayed.
