KG Hospital, Coimbatore was founded in the year 1974 by Sri. K. Govindaswamy Naidu, Industrialist and Philanthropist. Run by K. Govindaswamy Naidu Medical Trust, the Trust is Chaired by Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam, Recipient of several awards, including “Dr. B.C. Roy Award” for Community Healthcare, “Seva Ratna Award” instituted by the Centenarian Trust for meritorious and outstanding services in the field of Healthcare, “Vaidya Ratna Award” By Adichunchanagiri Math, Karnataka “Swamy Seva Puraskaram Award” by Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa Dharma Parishath, And “Life Time Achievement Award”by Gastroenterology Society of India, Salem.
For more than 25 years, KG Hospital has been recognised as a leader in Patient Care, Medical Research and Teaching. Today, KG Hospital is known for its excellent faculty and staff who have specialised in every aspect of medical care. It periodically conducts several outreaching programmes, Camps and health awareness programmes, for local, district and other states' patients, thus ensuring that the benefit of advanced research in medicine reaches the poorest of the poor even in remote areas.
The Hospital has grown into a completely self-contained unit with most of the sophisticated equipment available in the world to give qualitative medicare to the people on the par with the West. Several of the hospital's departments have micro processor based technology. One of the key features of the hospital is that it is centrally located in the city and has easy access from the railway station, airport and bus stands. The hospital has more than 250 doctors, 800 nurses and 200 para-medical staff, senior managers and others. The hospital has been recognised by the National Board of Examinations, Govt. of India, for conducting PG Courses and fellowship courses in nine super specialities. To improve our support services we are also running a school of nursing, College of nursing and physiotherapy. We have the distinction of being the fourth hospital in the entire country to have obtained the quality accreditation “ISO 9002” for fulfilling the International quality parameters. The Hospital has its own software company to develop medical system and procedures, including a Medical Transcription Unit, which is Asia's biggest one of is kind.
Throughout the period of its operation, the Hospital has had intense demand for Emergency services and medical in patient beds. Bed occupancy is oen as high as 100 percent and it is to the credit of all staff that they are able to continue to provide the best care possible during these periods of unrelentic demand.
The Hospital provides a wide variety of In-Patient and Out-Patient services. The clinical programme and medical facilities are continuously to meet both the changing needs of the community and challenges posed by new discoveries and innovations in technology.
KG Hospital conducts one Free Dialysis to a kidney patients free of cost every day.
KG Eye Hospital has performed over 45,000 free cataract Eye Operations by intraocular Lens Implantation Surgery.
