KG Hospital Chairman Dr G.Bakthavathsalam along with a team of specialists recently met the doctors at Palakkad in Kerala and had purposeful discussions with them on matters relating to advancements in the fields of medicine and surgery.
Dr Bakthavathsalam highlighted the achievements of KG Hospital ever since its inception. He said, “The hospital is keen on providing advanced healthcare services at affordable costs to all the patients. For attaining this goal, the hospital has been constantly upgrading the medical equipment and also the skill level of doctors.”
- Our Chairman observed that there was a clear distinction between a single-organ or single specialty hospital and a multi-specialty hospital like KG Hospital in rendering healthcare services to the patient.
In case of any post-operative complications the single specialty hospital might find it difficult to provide the right kind of treatment to mitigate the sufferings of the hospital; whereas, in a multispecialty hospital the specialists of the required disciplines could be immediately summoned for taking due care of the patients. This way, the precious lives of the patients could be saved in the latter.
Dr Bakthavathsalam said, “KG Hospital has got advanced Intensive Care Units and Modular Operation Theatre, besides state-of-the-art equipment like neuro-navigation system. With these modern devices and skilled doctors, the critical care patients are getting a new lease of life.”
‘At the service of underprivileged people’
Dr Y.Y.Rao,Chief Cardiologist of KG Hospital, said that the hospital had a magnificent team of specialists like Dr S.K.Varma, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dr C.Balasubramanian, Interventional Cardiologist, Dr P.Nitthiyan, Interventional Cardiologist, Dr T.C.R.Ramachandran, Neurophysician, Dr M.Pradeep, Senior Consultant Interventional Neurologist, Dr Ilangovan Veerappan, Chief Nephrologist, and Dr A.P.Kumaraguru, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, besides himself.
“Under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, KG Hospital has been doing a yeomen service in treating heart patients who are mostly from the lower economic strata of the society,” Dr Rao said.
Dr Varma said that when many corporate hospitals shy away from treating the patients under the government’s health insurance scheme, KG Hospital in its customary manner is rendering all possible healthcare services to the underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of the society too.
- Dr T.C.R.Ramachandran advocated the observance of the FAST concept in treating the prospective stroke patients. The expansion for the acronym FAST is as follows: F – facial drooping, A – arm weakness, S – speech difficulties and T – timely treatment.
Dr M.Pradeep, explained the neurosonology technique available in KG Hospital which he termed as a “big leap forward in the management of stroke.” Dr Ilangovan Veerappan said that KG Hospital had the distinction of having performed the highest number of cadaver transplants in this region. Dr Kumaraguru dwelt upon the advancements in the sphere of Advanced Trauma Life Support System (ATLS).
The Palakkad doctors listened to their speeches in rapt attention and also sought clarifications on certain points. It may be noted that routinely a sizeable number of patients from Palakkad are being referred to KG Hospital for treatment.
