Children are the future citizens of the country and therefore, due attention must be paid to their well being. It is important that the health of children should be duly safeguarded, according to Dr G.Bakthavathsalam, Chairman, KG Hospital.
He was giving a speech on the importance of imbibing good habits and cultivating healthy life style to a batch of students from Premier Vidyaa Vikas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore, who along with teachers and Principal, had gathered at KG Hospital Auditorium on Monday, July 17th, 2017.
- Dr Bakthavathsalam said that the students should unfailingly give respect to and heed the advice of parents and teachers. Every student has the potential to become an achiever, and it is for the teachers to identify the skills and encourage the students to develop their talents.
In this context, Dr Bakthavathsalam cited the instance of former President Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam who rose from the ranks to the position of the First Citizen of the country. He called upon the students to adopt good food habits, avoid junk food and fast food to stay healthy.
He stressed the point that students should stay away from intoxicating substances. When driving a two-wheeler they must wear helmet and strictly follow the traffic rules. They should also donate blood, as each unit of blood could save four critical patients.
He called upon students to cultivate the habit of rising up early in the morning, say 4 a.m. If they do so, they are sure to realize their ambition and reach the goal. They should also follow their rightful passion to achieve success like Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi did.
Brain Power Yoga
Dr Bakthavathsalam said that the students must also devote one hour for doing physical exercise every day and by doing so they could stay energetic and active for the remaining 23 hours. He demonstrated how to perform sit-ups, which he terms as “Brain Power Yoga,” to activate the brain for inducing a robust thinking.
- He opined that a household could go without a puja room, but all the households should have a library stacked with good books. Reading such books would set the students on the right path.
Before finalizing the marriage alliance, whether matching of horoscope is done or not, Master Health Checkup must be done compulsorily for the prospective brides or bridegrooms to know about their health condition and to ascertain whether they have inherited any disease from their parents. Doing so will pave the way for leading a healthy and happy married life.
He made a power-point presentation on all the facilities and equipments available in KG Hospital. He pointed out that the state-of-the medical equipments were the innovative products of engineers and technicians who from their students days nurtured the ambition of inventing useful things.
Dr Bakthavathsalam distributed copies of the book “Healthy Heart for Life,” containing the formula for how to live 100 years, to the students.
