In connection with the World Glaucoma Week, being observed from March 11 to 18, our Chairman Dr G.Bakthavathsalam inaugurated the exhibition organized by the Eye Department in the KG Hospital premises on Monday (March 12, 2018).
Posters and charts highlighting the causes and curative aspects of glaucoma are on display in the exhibition. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bakthavathsalam said that vision was very important for man and therefore, he should take proper care of the eyes.
Diabetes was the window to many critical diseases such as heart attack, brain attack and damage to the eyes. Therefore, the diabetics should pay special attention to eye care.
They should consciously adopt lifestyle modifications such as avoiding fast food and junk food and non vegetarian dishes. They should give up sedentary lifestyle and do physical exercises for one hour daily.
Dr Bakthavathsalam said that doing yogasana and breathing exercise would tone up the body and the mind. It would be advisable for all, especially the diabetics, to do Master Health Checkup once a year. KG Hospital has well equipped Master Health Checkup centre.
Our Chairman introduced Dr Manoj Ramachandran, Chief Ophthalmologist, and Dr Bipul Kumar Das, Associate Consultant Ophthalmologist, to the gathering. He said that Dr Manoj Ramachandran had done very many eye surgeries and had the privilege of receiving an award from our former President Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam for his services.
Dr Arun Kumar, Cardio Thoracic Surgeon, was also present on the occasion.
