The K.G. Hospital Neurology Department works towards the management of acute neurological conditions such as stroke, meningitis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, status recognized epilepticus and myaesthenia gravis.
The Department manned by experienced neurologist and neurosurgeons treats over 600 patients with acute stroke (brain attack) every year. The department enjoys extensive Intensive Care facilities so vital in providing quality neurological healthcare.
The Department has been recognized by the National Board to conduct training courses in Neurology. The department also carries out epidemiological surveys in stroke, educates the general practitioners in the early recognition and management of stroke patients, trains nursing staff in the care of stroke patients and has developed a neurophysiology laboratory that helps in the diagnosis and management of several neuromuscular disorders.

Neuro Surgery
The Department of Neuro Surgery offers broad based services covering almost every aspect of diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It is manned by a team of experienced neurosurgical consultants, residents and nursing staff headed by Dr M Natarajan a world renowned Neuro Surgeon. It supported by an intensive care unit and functions in close coordination with the Departments of Anesthesiology, Neurology, and Diagnostics. The department is fully equipped and staffed to attend to all emergencies related to brain tumor, head injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, and spinal problems (including injury).
The department is the only center for Balloon Suppression of Trigeminal Neuralgia in India. The department has conducted up to 25,000 brain surgeries for brain tumors, and treated close 200,000 head injuries till date.
