Understanding DNB

What is a DNB Course?

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) is a prestigious postgraduate medical qualification awarded by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is fully equivalent to an MD/MS degree and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

DNB training takes place in accredited hospitals — not only in medical colleges — giving candidates access to high-volume tertiary care environments with diverse patient cases. Completion opens doors to DrNB/DM/MCh super-speciality training, academic careers, and consultant posts.

Why DNB Equals MD/MS

The National Medical Commission (NMC) formally notified in 2020 that DNB holders are eligible for teaching posts and super-speciality admissions on par with MD/MS degree holders. DNB is nationally portable, valid across all Indian states.
