Medi News — Frequently Asked Questions

The June 2026 issue (Volume 12, Issue 136) covers five features: Master Health Checkup — An Investment for Future by Chairman Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam; a case report on a life-saving carotid intervention that began with a routine eye examination; AI in Cataract Surgery — The Future of Vision Care; how early surgical intervention saved three patients with spinal meningiomas; and a report on the Department of Nephrology's landmark hypertension screening programme.
Over more than 40 years, KG Hospital's Master Health Checkup programme has screened nearly 40 lakh individuals, helping detect conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and certain cancers at an early, more treatable stage.
The Department of Nephrology has conducted free blood pressure screening for every patient visiting KG Hospital for the past six years, screening more than 5 lakh individuals — one of the largest hospital-based hypertension screening initiatives in the region. Nearly 10% were found to have high blood pressure, and over 50,000 individuals were diagnosed with hypertension without being aware of their condition.
