NABL Accreditation & Quality Standards

NABL accreditation (ISO 15189) is not simply a certificate — it is a rigorous, ongoing commitment to quality management across every aspect of laboratory operation, from sample collection to result reporting.

What NABL Accreditation Means for You

KG Hospital's laboratory undergoes regular external audit by NABL assessors who evaluate our personnel competency, equipment calibration, reference ranges, quality control programmes, and result reporting accuracy. This independent verification gives you confidence that your test results are reliable and comparable to international standards.

  • Internal Quality Controls (IQC) run with every analytical batch
  • External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) — CMC Vellore & Biorad, AIIMS, Anand Laboratories
  • Regular equipment calibration with traceable reference materials
  • Trained, certified laboratory technicians and consultant pathologists
  • Delta check alerts for unexpected result changes — patient safety safeguard
  • Critical value reporting to treating doctor within 30 minutes
Is KG Hospital's laboratory NABL accredited? +
Yes. KG Hospital's clinical laboratory holds NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation — the highest quality standard for medical laboratories in India, equivalent to ISO 15189. NABL certification ensures your test results meet nationally and internationally recognised accuracy standards.
Can I get home blood collection? How do I book? +
Yes. KG Hospital offers trained phlebotomist home collection service within Coimbatore city, 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm. Call 0422-4042121 or WhatsApp 9626196262 with your address, test required, and preferred time. Our coordinator will confirm the appointment and the phlebotomist will arrive at your doorstep.
How soon will I get my reports? Can I access them online? +
Routine biochemistry and haematology reports are typically available in 4–6 hours. STAT/urgent reports are delivered in 1–2 hours. Microbiology cultures take 24–72 hours. Histopathology and molecular tests take 24–72 hours. Reports can be accessed via our patient portal, WhatsApp, email, or collected from the lab reception.
Do I need to fast before a blood test? +
Fasting (8–12 hours) is required for fasting blood sugar, lipid profile, and triglycerides. Thyroid tests (TSH, T3, T4), CBC, kidney function, liver function, hormones, and most other tests do not require fasting. Plain water is always permitted. When in doubt, follow your doctor's specific instructions provided with your test prescription.
What is the difference between FNAC and biopsy? +
FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) uses a very thin needle to aspirate individual cells for cytological examination — it is quick, minimally invasive, and gives results in 24–48 hours. A biopsy (Trucut or surgical) obtains a core of tissue for histological examination — it preserves tissue architecture, gives more definitive diagnosis, and enables immunohistochemistry. Your doctor will advise which is appropriate for your clinical situation.

24×7 Emergency & STAT Laboratory Services

Critical care testing — troponin, blood gas, electrolytes, coagulation, blood cultures, and urgent microbiology — available round the clock. STAT results in 1–2 hours.
